Jobs in the banking sector are due to be created next year, as Halifax opens a further 20 branches.
Focused around the south of England, the expansion programme began in summer 2006 and is hoped to provide up to 1,500 new jobs.
New Halifax locations will include Monmouth, Christchurch, Leicester and the City of London, with the first new branch to be opened in Basingstoke by February.
Each branch will have approximately 15 banking staff, including mortgage and investment advisers.
Shane O'Riordain, general manager of group communications, said: "Our branch expansion programme continues at a pace.
"This is our biggest branch expansion programme since the 1970s."
Halifax Bank of Scotland has also made a commitment to install 100 fee-free cash machines in low income areas across Scotland and the north of England.
All of Halifax's cash machines across the country are free to use.
