Find a new Job at JobServe.com. A 45 million biomass project is set to bring 200 jobs to South Wales, it has been reported, while encouraging other businesses into the region.
Express Power, an Anglo-Dutch inward investment company, plans to establish a 20 megawatt facility that would burn waste wood, recruiting 200 people during its construction and up to 40 long-term employees.
The company is working alongside the Welsh Assembly Government to identify a suitable location, according to the Western Mail.
Maurice Price, chief executive of Express Power, said that consumers could benefit from a supply of "cheaper, greener" electricity, as well as the plant helping to achieve government targets for the Kyoto agreement.
"In certain areas there is a shortage of power supplies, so local authority and (Assembly Government) officials are interested in developing Express Power's new electricity sources to underpin existing businesses as well as attracting new ones to South Wales."
Express Power is a sustainable energy company which operates within the Express Park Group and is currently working on a range of projects in the UK, each producing between 5 and 25 megawatts of electricity.
